The Dish will be on a brief hiatus. Should return Fri, May 28. I love technology. And I hate technology. Sometimes it’s great. It really is. I can be at the zoo with my kids, take a picture of them, immediately upload it to Facebook, and 30 seconds later get a call from my aunt in Virginia who tells me she loves Chloe’s dress and that she hopes we [...] One door closes, and others open. And with those pesky Cavaliers no longer around to consume my life, I used this weekend to cleanse my palate of all things Cavs. Aside from watching emerging star Amir Khan box Paulie Malignaggi Saturday night on HBO, I watched no sports. I read the sports page, but not [...] LeChoke. That says it all, sadly. The stat line may look good, but anyone that watched that travesty last night saw the same thing I did. Eight baskets. Nine turnovers. Nearly all of them coming at back breaking points in the contest. I’m not sure what has been wrong with LeBron, but whoever that guy out [...] It’s win or go home time Cavs fans. And as if that’s not enough, tonight could be LeBron James last game as a Cleveland Cavalier. Understandably, the Cavalier Nation is an emotional mess right now. Many, if not most fans have already given up hope that the team can come back and win two straight games [...] To lose to superior talent, while still painful, is acceptable. To lose to inferior talent because of lackluster effort and poor coaching is infuriating. That’s what is happening in this series. We’re being outhustled, outsmarted, and outplayed by a clearly inferior foe. It’s like death by a thousand paper cuts. This was supposed to be our year. [...] Hope all the mom’s out there had a nice Mother’s Day yesterday. My mom’s side is all 100% Sicilian Italian, and our whole family was over my mom’s house yesterday for the Cavs game and dinner. It was just chaos from 5:30–6:30. Me and my uncles pacing around the house screaming at the television during the second [...] The Drive. The Fumble. The Shot. The Elbow? Well, LeBron finally talked about what is now known here in Cleveland as “The Elbow”. He said it’s been fine, hasn’t flared up in practice these last couple days, but that it is just something he is going to have to deal with … and that he has [...] Knowing that the Cavs will dominate a good chunk of the Friday and Monday Dishes … we’re going to try and get away from sports today and keep things lighter. Not much to report anyway, other than the rampant speculation about LeBron’s elbow, which team officials are treating like the government treats questions about Area [...] We’ve talked about this before in The Dish. Seven game playoff series are emotional meat grinders. Isn’t it amazing how one game can change things? Yesterday all was right with the world. We were up 1-0 after a thrilling win on Saturday night. LeBron accepted his second straight MVP award on Sunday. I was changing diapers [...] |
