The Daily Dish - April 18, 2012

What a performance last night from Bruce.  The guy is just an amazing live performer.  His voice has held up so well.  As has his physical condition.  I’m 35 and feel like I was beaten with an aluminum bat for three hours last night.  And all I did was watch the show.

Some of the highlights [...]

Springsteen tonight.  If anyone else is going, we’ve got some people meeting up at Cadillac Ranch downtown before the show tonight.  Come join me and some of Cleveland’s finest for a couple of pre-concert refreshments if so inclined.  It will be fun.

Bruce, now 62 years old, is defying the laws of aging.  When I saw [...]

WHAT A WEEKEND for the Indians!  Just what the doctor ordered.  32 runs, a SWEEP of the Royals, and back to .500 at 4-4 on the year.

Four days ago? “This offense is miserable; it’s going to be a long season.”  This morning?  Indians have scored the 3rd most runs in all of baseball.

The only thing [...]

Check out what’s headed for the east bank of the Flats next year …

This would be phase II of the redevelopment of the east bank.  Construction on phase I is already underway, where a 150 room hotel, 18 story office building, and a boardwalk (back right corner of the pic) are scheduled to open a [...]

Temps back into the 60’s tomorrow … and into the 70’s on Sunday!  Beautiful weather to sit inside and scramble to get your taxes done.

Today is National Grilled Cheese Day.  The more things change in life; it’s good to know some things never will.  Like Americans infatuation with melted cheese sandwiches.  I can only imagine [...]

The mental procession I went through as an Indians fan yesterday:

7:30 AM, penned in yesterday’s Dish – “This team really has the look of a .500-esque team.  Like last year when they finished 80-82 after a blistering 30-15 start.”

12:00 noon, while having lunch with a business partner – “The more I think about it, the [...]

Opening day.  Finally.

I wish I felt a little better about the Indians heading into the season though.  This spring could not have been worse for the team.  Let’s recap:

We found out Fausto Carmona is really some dude named Roberto Hernandez Heredia, and is 31 years old and not 28.  He is still in the Dominican [...]

The Final Four.  Tomorrow.  I cannot wait.

I got baseball practice, a kids birthday party, and Easter egg coloring to fight through … knock that all out and slip into Basketball Lockdown/Aaron Craft bro-mance mode.  My 6-year old son is determined to make it up until 11 PM for the end of this one.  Actually voluntarily [...]

The Daily Dish - March 28, 2012

We’ve gotten to the point of the year for me where the coat goes away.  First extended stretch of 60 degree + weather, and it’s gone, never to come back, no matter how cold it gets.  On principle.

I still get this feeling that there is one more blast of snow coming in April.  It snows [...]

The Daily Dish - March 27, 2012

Some big-time news was released yesterday from the world of fast-food.  For the first time since at least 1972 (when it started being tracked), Wendy’s has eclipsed Burger King as the #2 burger-chain in America behind McDonalds.  Subway remained the second-largest restaurant chain in the United States last year.  Starbucks came in at # 3, [...]
